Nigerian military kills 67 terrorists in Gombe town counter attack

The Nigerian military in an onslaught on Thursday in Bajoga, Gombe State killed 67 Boko Haram extremists, the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has said.
The terrorists on a mission to capture Ashaka town, the host community of Ashaka Cement Plant, were in a convoy of over 30 vehicles and motorcycles.
The DHQ had on Saturday in a statement said that 10 soldiers were killed in that battle.
It said troops which got an intelligence report on their mission pursued the terrorists and laid ambush for them.
The terrorists while fleeing the town were able to retrieve three truckloads of their dead members but could not continue with their proposed mission.
The DHQ said some of the soldiers that sustained injury during the battle are receiving treatment in military hospitals.
Some of the terrorists had on Thursday attacked the Ashaka cement plant in Bajoga. The militants also carried out a similar attack last month when they carted away explosives after attacking the plant.
The vehicles and heavy equipment used by the terrorists were said to be destroyed before they fled the community.
Also, a number of terrorists died in an encounter with some troops on patrol in Kwanta, Yobe State. The troops did not record any casualty in this battle.
Equipment and weapons including Rapid Propelling Guns, RPGs, tubes, machine guns and rounds of different calibres of ammunition were captured from the terrorists.
