The 18-year-old's decision not to extend his time with the Rossoneri has sparked outrage amongst fans and put the rumour mill into overdrive. Manchester United's Paul Pogba has called for the football world to treat wantaway AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with more respect in the wake of his refusal to sign a new contract.

The news that the 18-year-old would not sign an extension at the Serie A club came as a big surprise as fans expected him to be at San Siro for the long haul - much like Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus. Things changed after the Rossoneri's latest meeting with agent Mino Raiola, however, with the representative claiming that Donnarumma had been bullied by the club , who now face losing the starlet next summer on a free transfer.

Milan's CEO Marco Fassone has said that the pair's decision not to extend has cost the club €100 million , while Italy fans at the country's U21 Euros clash with Denmark threw fake bills at the keeper and chanted his name as 'Dollarumma' as things quickly turned sour for Italy's hottest prospect. Meanwhile, Pogba, who's also a client of Raiola's, has tweeted his support for Donnarumma, claiming that the keeper will one day be the best in the world and deserves respect for all he has achieved at such a young age.
Pogba's Donnarumma tweetWith rumours claiming Real Madrid are still very much interested in signing David de Gea, it has been suggested that Pogba's tweet has been used to coax Donnarumma to Man Utd, though others believe it was purely a message of support in the wake of fan abuse.
