London Fire Like Something Out Of A Horror Movie – Eyewitnesses

Eyewitnesses have recounted their horror at waking up to a fire that engulfed a 24-storey block of flats in central London in the early hours of Wednesday.
“I ran outside and then looked up and it was just ablaze. It was an absolute nightmare. It was like something out of a horror movie,” said one resident.
“It was an inferno. It was just spreading. Just spreading. It was all of that cladding. I’m sure the cladding, 100 percent, helped it go up in flames. Because there was a fire in Trellick Tower only six months ago and it was contained in one flat. You know what I mean, and it was OK. I mean there’s got to be so many fatalities in this one that’s just happened. I see the kids banging on the windows screaming. It was horrendous.”
Another resident, Oscar Millan, said, he tried to battle the blaze but stood no chance.
He said, “Suddenly, I saw the big flames coming out of the window, inside the flat as well. I tried to put it out but because it was too strong you know.
“It was windy as well and I couldn’t get it so I grabbed an extinguisher, I tried to put it out, it wouldn’t work at the moment, so I put on some more water. But we had no chance, the kitchen started to fill with smoke so I had to run out of the building. I grabbed my telephone and my passport and that’s it. There’s nothing you can do at the moment.”
Flames licked up the sides of the Grenfell tower block in the North Kensington area as 200 firefighters, backed up by 40 fire engines, fought the blaze for hours.
An unconfirmed number of people have been killed so far, with at least 50 more injured.
