The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs Senator Aliyu Sabi-Abdullai, took on matters arising from President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter to the senate.
The letter, which called for the re-nomination of Mr Ibrahim  Magu as the acting head of the EFCC Chairman, also touched on the N233m scandal involving the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
According to Mr Sabi-Abdullai, the final report of the Senate Committee on the northeast will determine the resolution of the senate on the allegations it leveled against the SGF, Mr Babachir Lawal.
“Let me assure Nigerians that because of the pains in the IDPs, because of the pains of those who have lost their loved ones, I want to assure Nigerians that this senate is not going to fold its arms.”
He stressed that the Senate would ensure that Justice is done.
In December 2016, the Senate had called for the resignation of Mr Lawal, over his involvement in a 223 million Naira contract, meant for the humanitarian crisis management in the northeast, Nigeria.
Meanwhile, on the renomination of Mr Ibrahim Magu for the EFCC Boss job by President Buahri, the Senate Spokesman said it will have to go through the legislative process again.
“With respect to the issue of Magu’s letter, we have received it and it is going to go through the legislative process again.
The final report would be out very shortly, and when it is out, we will definitely deliberate on it and it is at that time, the context within which Mr President brought his response to us, will now be considered and at the end of the day, we will have a final resolution.
If there is anything, any resolution we take is meant for action,” Sabi-Abdullai concluded.
