The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed at least seven filling stations which have failed to comply with the enforcement laws of the agency in Owerri.
The sanction occurred during an unscheduled inspection by the DPR to some petrol stations in Owerri metropolis and its environs in Imo State, south-east Nigeria.
The DPR Assistant Director of Operations in Imo State, Chukwu Ernest, who led the team, said the agency would continue to do their duty by enforcing the directive of the Federal Government on petrol price so as to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Motorists were excited, as DPR also forced independent petroleum marketers to sell the product at government approved price of 87 Naira per litre.
They urged the Federal Government to help place a routine check on the marketers who were creating so much hardship on the masses.
