The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Donald Duke, has signed the peace accord ahead of the general elections in 2019.
Duke, who is a former governor of Cross State, signed the agreement on Thursday at the office of the National Peace Committee in Abuja.
The Director of the Kukah Centre, Father Atta Barkindo, witnessed the signing of the agreement by the SDP presidential candidate.
The former governor told reporters after the accord that he was happy that most of the presidential candidates in the forthcoming polls have signed the documents.
He was also hopeful that the outcome of the poll would be similar to that of the 2015 presidential election.
Duke had earlier said he was not invited for the signing of the document aimed at strengthening the democratic process before and after the 2019 elections.
Midwifed by the Peace Committee convened by former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Kukah, the peace accord is aimed at committing the candidates and their political parties to peaceful general elections in 2019.
President Muhammadu Buhari and other presidential candidates of various parties had visited the office of the committee to sign the agreement.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, had also visited the committee to sign the pact on Wednesday following their absence at the signing ceremony held on Tuesday.
