Full Report

Both sides had a fairly low key start to the match with Spurs dominating possession while the hosts looked to use the pace of Hernandez and Michail Antonio on the counter attack.

In the eighth minute the home side created their first chance when Hernandez played a one-two with Antonio and tried to catch Lloris off-guard with a shot from range but the shot could only hit the roof of the net.

In the 12th minute, Eriksen had a chance after he was played into space by Moussa Sissoko but his shot was deflected and tipped over the bar by Hart.

In the 24th minute Alli and Sissoko worked the ball through to Aurier who drove a low cross into the box but Kane could not put the finishing touch to the move.

Alli then managed to flick the ball on to release Eriksen who crossed the ball into Kane’s path but the England striker’s shot was blocked.

The away side finally opened the scoring when Eriksen picked up possession and released Alli who managed to find an unmarked Kane with the England striker left with a relatively simple header to put his side 1-0 ahead.

Kane got his second of the match minutes afterward as Jan Vertonghen slipped a pass to Alli who made a good run into the box. Hart managed to get a hand to Alli’s flick but the ball landed kindly at Kane’s feet who rolled the ball into an empty net.

The second half started in much the same way that the first finished with West Ham looking to hit Spurs on the counter.

Spurs however were able to withstand their pressure and added a third in the 60th minute through Eriksen after Kane hit the post with a free kick and Aurier’s deflected cross managed to land in the Dane’s path.

Shortly afterward Kane missed a chance to get his hat-trick after he hit the post with a low shot from the left.

The hosts then pulled a goal back through Hernandez after Jose Fonte flicked on a corner and the Mexican was in the right place in the right time to nod the ball in.

Spurs then suffered a further blow when Aurier, after receiving a yellow earlier in the half, hacked down substitute Andy Carroll and received a second yellow and red card to leave the visitors with ten men.

Hernandez came close in the 77th minute when he managed to pull the ball down from a cross and fired a shot straight at Lloris who was equal to the task.

Cheikhou Kouyate made it 3-2 in the 86th minute after he was well picked out by a cross from Arthur Masuaku and headed it past Lloris.

The Hammers continued to pile the pressure onto the visitors in added time but could not find the equaliser.
