Shakespeare pushing for Silva move

Leicester missed the transfer deadline to bring in the 28-year-old Sporting midfielder by 14 seconds after a €29.5million deal was reportedly agreed upon by both Leicester and Sporting for the Portugal international.

FIFA, the Football Association and the club's legal team are currently in talks about a way forward.

Silva has been forced to train on his own in the interim, with Shakespeare explaining: "It is my job to do that [ask for updates]. I want the player. I want to involve him so it is my job to keep asking and I will keep doing that.

"I think you have to be positive. I want to be positive for the lad because when I speak to him it is like a little boy saying, 'please can I come and play with your ball'.

"I am aware that sometimes there are only so many times you can tell a person, 'you need to train in there.' For all parties, the quicker we can get him in there the better.

"He wants it all dealt with quicker. He is frustrated but he understands what the legal side of it is as well."
